My name is Kym Frankovelgia. I am a florist, cabaret singer and most passionately a chef. But the most formative of my traits: I am Italian.
Any good Italian knows there is no 'K' in the Italian alphabet. That little letter arrived in our last name when my family came through Ellis Island and in their attempt to Americanize it, they changed their authenticity. I've spent my life maintaining mine, and I think you should too. From what you put on your feet, to what you eat, it has to feel good and true to you.
Growing up as an Italian-American means my favorite memories are the sense of togetherness that cannot be mentioned or experienced without food. Every memory is attached to a meal. It's about Sunday dinners around a table with your family, the talking hands that dot each conversation, the swear words being exchanged across the table that ALWAYS ends in laughter.
Before Covid, I was performing 500 shows a year for senior communities. I have a powerful love and respect for the music of a bygone era and I revel in making people happy.
But, in an instant I had to rethink my career as all senior communities locked down instantaneously. So, I turned to my passion: food. It is my hope that you cook with me, blast some music that makes you feel good, sing along and swear a little when the bacon grease pops onto your skin. Because cooking should be f**king fun! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
